Elves Love Toys!

Eggnog has been a very busy elf the past week and a half!  He's really started digging through Mr. No's toys, having lots of fun and making a few friends.

Day 9: A Pirate's Life for Me!

Eggnog made himself a little eye patch, dragged a blue blanket over for the ocean, jumped in the Dragon Ship and set off to find not-so-buried treasure. Unfortunately, not only were other pirates (see the Rise of the Guardians elves in the little boat?) seeking the same treasure but the treasure was being guarded by a sea monster and piranha and a trio of ghosts!  Good luck with that adventure, Eggnog!  Mr. No played with this set up for half the day!

Day 10:  Monkeying Around

Eggnog decided that he wanted to find out what it would feel like to be a monkey.  He got 2 barrels of monkeys to agree to show him!  He was the middle of the chain that reached from the ceiling almost to the floor.  Rise of the Guardians Elves were lying on the stool below him just waiting for him to fall. We took Eggnog down but Mr. No counted out he days left until Christmas and left some up to serve as a Christmas countdown.

Day 11:  Ready? Set? Go!

Eggnog dug around for some paper sacks (Max brought his own) and challenged a few friends to a friendly little sack race. Of course, He rigged it so he would win.  We did get a fresh one.

Day 12:  Strike!

Eggnog really dug in the back of the closet for this one!  He found the old bowling set that never really stood up to well and challenged Hulk to a game. Looks like Hulk is getting a little frustrated.  I think Eggnog is cheating.  Look how big his bowling ball is compared to Hulk's.  If you look closely at the pins,  Rise of the Guardians Elf is peeking out.  Wonder if he was going to help Hulk out?

Day 13:  Godzilla Attacks!

oops! they ended up a little blurry when I hastily resized them into this!
Eggnog needed a little back up for this one!  The Godzillas are attacking Go-Go city!  See all the poor Go-Gos run!  Luckily Eggnog, sock bunny (homemade by Mama!) and Beanie lizard found Mr. No's stash of nerf guns!  Good thing they build that clever little wall to hide behind but I'm not sure the bullets are doing much to Godzilla and his friends.

Day 14: Scout Camp Out

Aww, Eggnog was doing something nice!  He took the Lalaloopsy kids on camp out.  Of course, he kept the tent for himself and Gremlin.  Not so thrilled that he raided my fabric stash but at least he made sure they were warm.

Day 15:  Winter Wonderland

Eggnog got into the craft supplies that night and created a winter wonderland in the playroom. He decided to team up with He-man, Man-At-Arms and Link to snowball battle Ogre, Clayface and the Aliens.  You can't see him but Rise of the Guardians Elf is hiding in the Alien's castle.  Such a baby!

Day 16:  Scooby Doo, Where Are You?

Eggnog got the whole gang together and even took a ride in the mystery machine!  Too bad the entire town is infested with monsters and ghost.  I'm sure Velma can figure out who's behind all the spooky happenings so Eggnog can help Freddy with some traps.

Day 17: Revenge of the Elf

Mr. No says he's been having nightmares and so he's been sleeping in our room.  Apparently, Eggnog is not too happy about that.  He wrapped string all around his room, decorated his tree with socks and hung undies everywhere!  And we caught him red handed!

Day 18:  Jewel Thief

Eggnog was up to no good once again!  He stole the Imaginext dinosaurs crystals.  Good thing he found the huge dino get away on.  If you wonder how they found out, just look for the Rise of the Guardians Elf on the brachiosaurus' back.  Little tattletale!

Only a week left until Christmas!  Hopefully I can dig up a few more good ideas!  It's starting to get a little harder now.  More Eggnog adventures here  here and here.

Simple Things Sunday: New Tradition

We decided to see what all the fuss was about this year and got Mr. No and Elf on the Shelf.  He calls him Eggnog Evergreen.  I've never seen this kid so excited to get up in the morning!  Every morning I'm woken up by an adorable grinning little face saying, Mom!  You'll never guess what Eggnog is up to today?!?  Yes, sometimes it's a pain to remember to move him and actually, we set up scenes more than move him but it's so worth it to see his happy little face.  A little effort is worth so much.

Mr.No's happy face every morning!

More Eggnog Adventures

Mr. No absolutely LOVES Eggnog!  He jumps up every more and shouts" I have to find Eggnog!"  and then runs into our room, shaking his head, saying "Mom, you will not believe what he's doing today!".  We don't even mention him reporting to Santa because most days Mr. No  is just so good simply having Eggnog around.  The attitude has improved the sassmouth has dramatically decreased and without us even saying much of anything.  It's amazing!  Here are the past few days of Eggnog's adventures.

Day 5: With a Little Help From My Friends...

Eggnog decided that Mr. No's room needed a little more Christmas cheer.  So he got a few of No's best pals together, Mr. P. Bear, Grinch, Max, Scooby Doo, Chip, Hulk and Bumble to help him make a few decorations and add a little cheer.  They made paper chains and snowflakes (not pictured), hung gingerbread men, stocking and even a long strand of lights around his window.  Mr. No was so happy he made take a pic of him with Mr. P. Bear, Eggnog and Max (more like 20 of them). looking at the pics, I don't think Rise of the Guardians Elf is too  happy with the mess they made.

Day 6:  How the Elf Stole Christmas

Eggnog decided to be  a nice quiet elf (after mess he left the day before trying to be helpful) and just gathered ALL of Mr. No's stuffed friends together for a lovely reading of How the Grinch Stole Christmas.  (Rise of the Guardians Elf seems to approve of this one)

Day 7: Lonely Little Elf

Wednesday night Mr. No slept over Nana and Pop's house since he was going to see How the Grinch Stole Christmas in Boston with them in the morning.  I wasn't sure how Mr. No would do at a real play but he was great and he loved it!  Eggnog, however, was not so happy to find No gone so he grabbed No's favorite blankie and snuggled up in his bed to wait for him to come home.  Poor Eggnog.  Rise of the Guardians Elf is not so thrilled about this.  Jealous?

Day 8:  Revenge of the Playmobil Pizza Guy

Remember that poor reindeer poo cleaner from day 4?  Apparently he was out for revenge!  We found Eggnog and poor reindeer looked up in a Lego Jail with all the Playmobil guys surrounding him.  And look who's on top of the jail, Rise of the Guardians Elf (who really needs a shorter name) with his laughing face on.   Someone is letting jealousy get the better of him.  Troublemaker.

Introducing...Eggnog Evergreen!

We've seen the boxes EVERYWHERE and, honestly, I had no idea what it was until this year.  We were bad parents though and didn't do a big package arriving from the North Pole thing.  We just let Mr. No go and pick out the elf he wanted to bring home with him as a friend and informant to Santa.  We opened him up, read the book and Mr. No gave him a name, Eggnog Evergreen.  He was a little wary at first.  He kept saying it wasn't real but needed him to believe because his sassmouth was out of control.  So I checked my pinterest idea board for something that would convince him and here's what we decided on...

(Check out more Eggnog Adventures here: week 2, week 3, week 4)

Day 1:  Potty Time (yeah, we're so classy!)

They're chocolate chips, don't worry.  He even brought a note from Santa praising Mr. No's good behavior.  Let me tell you, this was the best way to get him to believe.  He even scolded Eggnog for not flushing.  This weekend, he was wonderful with out even being reminded so I think Eggnog is working :)

Day 2:  Happy Birthday Mr. No!

Second day of elf happened to be Mr. No's birthday and since he was having a Scooby Doo birthday party, Eggnog decided to join in the fun and "trap" Mr. No in his room.  He did leave a present taped to the door, too, with a little Elf birthday card.

Day 3:  Cops and Robbers

Eggnog was a good elf that night.  He opened the packages for the rest of Mr. No's toys for him. Of course, he couldn't resist playing with them!  There was a Lego set with 2 cops and a police car and 2 robbers stealing money from an ATM.  The robbers are on the stegosaurus with the loot.  Eggnog is leading the cops and a bunch of other toys who wanted in on the action.

Day 4:  It's a Crappy Job But Somebody Has to Do It...

just not our elf on the shelf!  I'd seen posts with the Elf cleaning up the reindeer poop but our Elf is just too fresh for that!  So I decided that he'd be the one riding the pooping reindeer, laughing all the way, while a poor little Playmobil guy had to clean up the mess.  Mr. No though this was "ridiculous'! I know it's not the most mature set up (or the toilet one) but little boys find bathroom humor hilarious!

Hopefully, we can keep up the fun.  I'm terrible at remembering things.  I do need to get wire this week to put in his arms though to make him easier to pose.  Then our possibilities would be endless...

Simple Things Sunday: Mr. No Turns 5!

Mr. No turned 5 yesterday!  I can't believe another year has gone by.  And while a birthday party isn't really a simple every day thing, being able to just sit back and enjoy him at his party, instead of hosting it at home, and not having to miss any of it made me realize that I did miss a lot on the birthdays that we did a house party.  I just got to sit back and take some photos of him and his little friends having a great time. He told me it was his best birthday ever!

It's tradition for me to decorate his breakfast area and chair the night before so he wakes up to a birthday surprise.  He gets so excited so it's worth the little extra effort.

Even our Elf on the Shelf, Eggnog Evergreen,  got into the birthday spirit with a little Scooby Doo themed  mischief and a little present.  Mr. No thought the "trap" was hilarious!

Eggnog even left a little present on the left.

After breakfast and some play time, we headed out to My Gym for his party with his school friends.  I've never seen Mr. No so excited!  The party hosts at my gym were awesome!  They let the kids play on their own and then periodically led some fun group games that the kids seemed to really enjoy.  I know that Mr. No did. I would absolutely recommend them for any younger kid's party.  They were amazing with the kids, made sure they had tons of fun and I got to just sit back and watch the kids.

dance party!

Since it was a Scooby Doo themed party, one of the hosts dressed up like a ghost and the kids got to throw fake snowballs at her.  I think that was their favorite part of the day!

Cake Time with a super delicious cake from Bean Counter.  It was soooo yummy!  And cute!

Then we went home, Daddy didn't have to work which was super special for Mr. No, and we spent the rest of the afternoon playing with all his new toys and watching Scooby Doo episodes.  And all of that made it his "best birthday ever!"  Happy birthday to my now big boy Mr. No!  You're smart, silly, sassy, crazy, hilarious and absolutely the best thing to ever happen to us!
