Simple Things Sunday: Play Time

Since I started working more hours, Mr. No and I haven't been able to get enough Mommy-son play time in.  Well, not nearly as much as we used to.  So we spent one day just hanging out, me and Mr. No.  We played with farm animals and drew barns and lakes for them with sidewalk chalk.  He (pretend) attacked me with stick lances and berry bombs.  We read books, played games, put together puzzles and just basically packed whatever fun home activities we could into one day.  He only has 1 more year at home before he starts school full time and I know how much I'm going to miss all the time we used to spend together.

Simple Things Sunday: Ocean Walk

End of my vacation and we finally got to the beach!  We couldn't go to our favorite Crane Beach so we settled for a beach that is less little kid friendly but that we knew was close by.  Mr. No's favorite part?  Talking a walk along the bridge with Dad and pretending that each square was a trap...electric, fire, ice. They had a blast!

Simple Things Sunday: Garden Goodies

Yummy things are growing!  This is the first year I've ever tried to grow any veggies and I'm so excited by all the veggies started to grow!  hopefully I can get out this wee and get some photos of veggies on the plants but we have mustard spinach, beans, peas, tomatoes, zucchini, summer squash and carrots all growing.  I'm so ready for the deliciousness!

We've already had some tangy spinach and this week I picked the first set of squash flowers to fry up.  My Grandma used to always make up fried squash blossoms when we were kids and they were delicious!  Mine were super tasty but not as yummy as hers.

And Mr. No insists on eating the carrots even though they really aren't big enough yet.  They are the supposed to be the little sweet onesbut they're still a little too little.  Here's the one he wanted with his dinner.

Hopefully we'll have more deliciousness this week!
