Vacation Photos: Nana and Papa Day

On Thursday of our vacation, H had to drive back home for the day.  This left me and Mr. No with just Nana and Papa since everyone else either had gone back home as well for a few days or hadn't arrived yet.  Mr. No of course was thrilled to have Nana and Papa all to himself.  Nana loves Cape Cod chips and we saw an ad to visit the factory so in the afternoon we headed out to the factory.  It was just slightly interesting but at least it was free and they give you 2 little bags of chips for your time.  After all of 10 minutes there, we headed over to the carousel and arcade that was nearby.  Mr. No wanted to ride with Nana so he hopped on the zebra and Nana was coerced to ride Buttercup the horse.  Mr. No loved it, even though he had his super serious face on most of the time.

Ooooo a smile!

After the carousel ride, Mr. No wanted to try out a few rides in the arcade and then everyone played some games for tickets.  Nana does love her skee ball and Mr. No isn't half bad at getting tickets!  He ended up with a package of sponge animals (which did not grow a giant anteater much to Mr. No's dismay), a little motorcycle and a pirate dress up set.  A super fun day for Mr. No!

Vacation Photos: Family Day Out

On our 3rd day of vacation, the 3 of us spent a day out as a family.  Only Nana and Papa were at the beach house that day and were headed out as well so we decided to check out the Cape Cod Children's Museum.  Maybe I was expecting more because we're spoiled with all the kid's museums around but I was rather unimpressed with this one.  And I was very disturbed by the number of parents who were on their cell phones rather than watching or playing with their children.  It made it hard for Mr. No to enjoy himself when unsupervised 4 and 5 year olds were pushing him, ripping things out of his hands and bossing him around.  H actually lectured a little boy who pushed Mr. No away from one of the toys and Mr. No was ready to leave in under an hour.  Usually we have to drag him out after 2 to 3 hours. I'm just happy we got in for free!  At least Nana gave Mr. No a little spending money so he left happy with a handful of little toys.

After that failed attempt at something fun for Mr. No, we went back to the house for a little lunch and some outside play time.  Mr. No, of course, had to bring a crazy amount of guys outside to play with.

After setting up his guys, we played hide and seek and tried to play with the frisbee but he thought it was much more fun to have me throw it and then he's sit on it and giggle because I couldn't pick it up with him on it.

Which then turned into a game of attack Mommy for her camera and Daddy for his hat.  Mr. No does look super cute in Daddy's hat!

Our final family adventure for the day was a trip out for homemade ice cream.  Yum!  Mr. No decided that he wanted oreo ice cream in a cup.  Until he saw my chocolate banana, which H also ordered, then he changed his mind and took over H's ice cream in a cup.  Then he decided that he wanted a cone after all and took over my ice cream just as I got to the cone. It was delicious though!   Lesson learned:  Get Mr. No exactly what I order since he ends up eating mine anyway.

Our day ended with dinner out at a 50's burger and pizza place down the street with Nana and Papa.  Good thing we had our dessert before dinner because the place was packed!  Mr. No only ate half of his grilled cheese, but with all the ice cream he stole, who could blame him?

Vacation Photos: Entering the Cape

While I'm very sad to be back from vacation, I am super happy to have internet on my computer again!   We just returned from a week long vacation in a gorgeous house on Cape Cod with my family.  The beach was a 30 second drive from the house and homemade ice cream seemed to be everywhere (YUM!). Mr. No thought it was fantastic to have Nana and Papa there every morning when he woke and especially loved when his cousins were there!  Since he doesn't get to play with other kids very often, which is the reason we're starting him in preschool a year early, it was even more amazing to have 2-3 kids around for entire days and they all were amazingly wonderful with him.

Our trip started our sunny, until we entered Rhode Island and then the skies opened up on us!  It was raining so hard that we actually missed our first exit! It started to downpour just before we hit that area because we went from perfectly dry roads to roads so soaked that a truck driving through a puddle on the opposite side of the road (with a barrier between us) caused a wave of rainwater to splash over our entire windshield!

Luckily Mr. No slept for the majority of the ride.  When he did wake, we stopped at a Honey Dew for a potty break a few munchkins for the munchkin to entice his cranky, sleepy little self to actually go inside. Once back in the car, I gave him my iphone to play with since I forgot his mobigo.  He has an entire page of games for him on there and he knows which ones and how to use it.

Then finally we hit the Bourne Bridge and the weather started to clear. Yay!  Mr. No thought the bridge was awesome!  He loves going over bridges. We were happy that our destination was only a few minutes away!

We found our destination with very little trouble thankfully.  I didn't take any photos the first day other than one shot off the land bridge as we were crossing into the neighborhood where the house was.  It was gorgeous there!

The boys didn't wake up in best way the next morning as can be seen here :P

first night in a strange place is always rough!
Our first day we spent on the private beach with the family that was there.  Mr. No was just happy that it included 2 of his cousins!  Even though it seemed a little small to me, we put a life vest on him so he could have a little more freedom with the older boys on the beach.  Anyone who knows Mr. No knows that he doesn't venture far out into the water.  The older boys were a little freaked out by the jellyfish (who didn't look like they were kicking) in the water so they tried to search for sea creatures on the rocks.  After all the cautions and warnings, guess who slipped and got cut on the barnacles?  Me, of course!  Those things hurt, too!

We were the first ones to leave the beach.  Mr. No had to use the potty and luckily for everyone else, refused to go in the ocean.  Once we got to the house, he didn't want to go back.  So, we had some lunch and relaxed out in the hammock for bit.  A nice relaxing first day of vacation!
