I'm going to begin this by saying that Mr. No is not a regular kid who loves all things sugary and sweet. He typically passes on dessert and isn't the biggest fan of chocolate but he insisted on having a Candyland party because he fell in love with the cake. Since you can only mail order Candyland decorations, this Mama had to make them all...
Mr. No on the morning of his party super excited...I was super frazzled and rushing around. He's holding one of the sugar letters for his cake and trying to cram it in my camera lens.
some of the decorations:
lollipop tree centerpieces for the tables ( I didn't get a photo of the tables but they had the colored squares down the middle with the trees in painted pots in the middle)
found the idea here at Meet the Dubiens (whose blog I absolutely love)
candy chandelier |
candyland game path with gingerbread guys dressed like the game pieces |
wrapped "candy" |
candy cane banister |
there were a few more decorations and I'm sad I didn't get any room shots, but you get the crazy general idea.
And of course, the beast that started it all from Taste of Home
cannot believe I made this...my brother-in-law did make some extra frosting for me and do the chocolate swirls |
Some of the littlest party guests playing with Auntie S...
Cake time, and Mr. No got embarrassed and tried to cover his ears so he wouldn't hear the singing. We had to quietly explain to him that it was rude to do that to people who brought you presents. The hands quickly moved to the face instead.
The fill your own party favor bag station:
then two of Mr. No after the party enjoying his gifts...playing with the leap pad from Nana and Pop
and watching a movie with Bad Kitty from Noodle and Auntie S. Mr. No loves Bad Kitty books and they really are a hilarious way to sneak in the alphabet. Seriously, Bad Kitty is a definitely must have for the toddler/preschooler library.
I'm going to have to just suck it up and just do a Christmas festivities post a month late. Oh well. Thanks for looking at my craziness!
Oh WOW! What a super party. I love the cake and the decorations! I pinned some of this to Pinterest. (Wish my kids were still little--Will have to pass this on for nieces' and nephews' parties.)
